DATE: Friday, October 24, 2008
LOCATION: Loyola College Graduate Center (Timonium Campus) - Timonium, MD
On this United Nations’ Day we ask the question, “How in the World … do we get our students to think critically?” College faculty and librarians interested in the goal of improving students’ critical thinking skills will have an opportunity to share their best practices and learn from colleagues about this aspect of pedagogy central to all teaching and learning. MILEX is looking for presenters interested in sharing techniques, leading exercises, and illustrating classroom applications.
MILEX (Maryland Information Literacy Exchange), a new and growing organization of academic and instruction librarians, invites proposals for those interested in sharing short PowerPoint presentations, called Pecha Kucha, of no more than 20 slides, run on a timer of no more than 20 seconds per slide. These presentations will complement the full-length sessions at this conference.
The MILEX Annual Conference Committee is striving to construct an experience for academics that will be heavy on specific models and practical information for instructors to use in sparking their students’ critical faculties. Presentations that address opportunities to integrate critical thinking skills into lessons are of particular interest.
Do you have a special idea or technique to share? Why not submit a proposal to present a six and a half minute PowerPoint at this special conference?
